How To Form and Register a Vikings Select/Traveling Team

These instructions are for coaches/team managers of Vikings Select/Traveling Teams only (teams playing in the Alvarez/Redwood/Abronzino/ Delgado and Golden State League). If you are going to play (as opposed to just registering) in the Vikings League do not use this form. Any U10 or U11 teams that wish to be considered for Upper House play will register as a Vikings League Team.

Vikings Club teams must have permission from the Club president to register as a Vikings Select/Travel team.

REGISTRATION STEPS

Complete District 1 Application for Fall Play and turn in to Vikings League by April 18, NOON (Step 6)

Teams must be aware of the restrictions on poaching players from other teams. Once a player has signed a USYSA form and submitted it with fees to our league, they may not be solicited to join another team for the new season. Appointments for travel teams start on April 17th, so as of that date, it is possible for a player to be registered for the 2008/09 year. It is your responsibility to confirm that the players are not already on a registered team.

Step 2:  Register Your Team On Line With The Viking League
Click on HERE to register your Select/Travel team. 

1. Receive your Fall 2008 Team Identification Number (TIN) via email within 3 business days from the time you register online. This will be different than your TIN from last year.  Use the TIN on every correspondence to the Vikings Office; it is essential to identifying your team and keeping everything straight. If you lose it, go to the web and click on FIND MY TIN to find it. (Please keep in mind that not all fields are made available for public view).

2.  Receive A Package Containing CYSA Membership Forms and detailed registration instructions via mail within one week from the time you receive your TIN. These are pressure sensitive forms that require original signatures in ink.

Step 3:  Email to Schedule An Appointment
Email the office to schedule an appointment to register your team. We will start accepting email correspondence for appointments April 10th for select/travel teams. Select team registration begins April 17th, 10:00 am - 1:30pm in half hour increments. Only the coach or team manager may register a team. One person can bring in paperwork for a maximum of two teams for which they are associated.

Last appointment day to register U11 - U13 teams is May 29.
Last appointment day to register U14 - U19 teams is June 1.

Hint: Prior to making your appointment, know when the team plans to play their first game. Make sure that you allow enough time for processing from the date of your appointment to the date you need the paperwork and passes. Please allow THREE weeks for Vikings and the District Registrar to process your paperwork.

Step 4: Complete Team Registration Paperwork
These forms may only be delivered to the office during a scheduled appointment. DO NOT DROP THEM OFF.

a.    PICTURES - a 1”x 1 1/2” passport quality/size photo of each player and coach on your team.
Photo must be of head and shoulders only.
Photo
must be approx 1” by 1.5”.
Do not truncate ears/head or chin.
Small photos or large photos and of poor resolution will be rejected.
Photo must be clear and not too light or dark.
Player/adult must be looking at the camera.
(no making funny faces)
No hat, visors or sunglasses. Images provided must be on PAPER, not credit card type plastic. We can not accept copies of driver's licenses or passport photos from driver's licenses or passports because of the wavy lines.

b. CHECK(S) Payable to the SF Vikings Soccer League in the amount of $27 per player if your team will complete their registration by June 1st. You may submit one or multiple checks, although we prefer one check. Write team name, TIN, and player name in memo field. Please check with your club (sometimes your club will cut a check for the team).

c. CYSA YOUTH SOCCER MEMBERSHIP FORMS 1601 (rev 05/05 or later) for each player signed by parent in two places. If players are 18 or over they must sign the form, not the parents.

d. CYSA TEAM OFFICIAL REGISTRATION AND RISK MANAGEMENT DISCLOSURE FORM 1628 (*Rev. 12/2007*) for all coaches, assistant coaches, team trainers and assistants. Please discard all pink OLD forms as they cannot be accepted.

e. COPY OF COACH LICENSE/CARD for each coach, assistant coach, team trainer and assistant. If misplaced, an application for a replacement can be obtained here.

f. BIRTH CERTIFICATES/Current passport for each player who did NOT play on your Division 1 or Division 2007 team. Must be a clear copy of the entire birth certificate (copies only as they will not be returned). Players with two-part birth certificates must submit both pages. Also, please note that if you submit a foreign birth certificate or passport for any player, a Foreign Document Translation form is required along with the birth certificate or passport.

Step 5:  Attend Appointment to Submit Paperwork and Have Field Requests Ready
All Registration steps (online and paperwork) must be 100% completed by your appointment or it will be cancelled!
Please submit the paperwork as listed in the order above for each player/coach as they apply. Then put paper-clipped set of paperwork in alphabetical order by last name with coahces/adults on top of the stack.

Save Time: PUT THE YOUTH FORMS IN LAST NAME ALPHABETICAL ORDER.

When you attend the registration appointment, have in mind what your practice days, times, and fields will be. Have a second and third choice ready. Check with coach/es ahead of time on what days/times they are available.

We will ask you for your first date of tournament play and the name of your tournament. Please check with the coach or team manager prior to attending your appointment.

Step 6:  Complete District Paperwork
In addition to registering with the Vikings League you may have other paperwork requried by District 1, such as the District 1 Application for Fall Play. This form is due on April 18. Please make certain the head coach signs the form. District forms will be turned in to the District registrar and Commissioner for you by the Vikings League.

Additional Information:
All Select Team registration materials must be reviewed and approved by the District Registrar. After the Vikings League processes your paperwork, we will deliver it to the District Registrar. Paperwork going through other leagues or districts may have other deadlines.

Check with your Club for any additional requirements. In addition to registering with the Vikings League you must pay your Annual Vikings Club dues of $50.00 plus any other fees as requried by your team coach/manager to cover expenses. Please make those checks payable to SF Vikings Soccer Club. Please put your team name, age and player last name in the check memo. Parent Pledges should also be filled out and submitted to the team manager/coach. Teams must also follow any playing league deadlines and requirements.
Please allow THREE weeks for Vikings and the District Registrar to process your paperwork.
